Hilton Head Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show

dogshowCome and enjoy watching over 500 pure bred dogs each day strut their stuff and compete in conformation, obedience & rally.  This two-day event begins on Saturday with the Puppy Groups & Best Puppy in Show, the Blessing of Our Dogs, and  the Canine Good Citizenship Test. Sunday, all day, is the Bred-by-Exhibitor Group & Best Bred-by in Show. Each day begins at Honey Horn Plantation at 9:00 AM and there is a parking donation for the benefit of The Coastal Discovery Museum of $7.00 per day.

oysterroastJoin in the fun!!!  Capt. Woody’s restaurants, located in the Palmetto Bay Marina, will be holding an Oyster Roast.  Take part in the buckets of oysters, hot dogs, hamburgers, soup, live entertainment and more!!!  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Humane Society.

International Tennis Symposium & $25,000 Championships

marsh tackyThis is the second year the Coastal Discovery Museum, along with the Carolina Marsh Tacky Association and the Native Islander Business and Affairs Association (NIBCAA) have partnered together to hold a Marsh Tacky Race.  This unique event celebrates the role Marsh Tacky Horses played in the history of the Lowcountry.  As tradition dictates, it is being held at the Mitchelville Beach.   There is no fee for attending the event.

Lowcountry Heritage Breeds Festival

A new event on Hilton Head Island this year is the Lowcountry Heritage Breeds Festival. The Coastal Discovery Museum , in conjunction with the American Livestock Breed Conservancy is inviting breeders of heritage breed farm animals that were historically used in the Lowcountry. Animals represented include Marsh Tacky Horses, the Mammoth Jackstock Mule, Guinea Hogs, Pineywoods cattle, Leghorn chickens, and more!!

There is no charge to attend this event, but donations are welcomed. It is being held at Honey Horn Plantation, on the North end of the Island.
