Lowcountry Heritage Breeds Festival

A new event on Hilton Head Island this year is the Lowcountry Heritage Breeds Festival. The Coastal Discovery Museum , in conjunction with the American Livestock Breed Conservancy is inviting breeders of heritage breed farm animals that were historically used in the Lowcountry. Animals represented include Marsh Tacky Horses, the Mammoth Jackstock Mule, Guinea Hogs, Pineywoods cattle, Leghorn chickens, and more!!

There is no charge to attend this event, but donations are welcomed. It is being held at Honey Horn Plantation, on the North end of the Island.

4th Annual Cooks & Books

This event has it all. . . Lowcountry authors and cookbook authors, tastings from local restaurants, and local chefs competing for honors in a cooking competition!!!  Proceeds from this event will benefit the Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry’s Adult Literacy Programs.  It is being held at the Mall at Shelter Cove, located mid-Island on William Hilton Parkway.   Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 when purchased at the event.

Remy’s Oyster Roast

Gullah Arts, Crafts & Food Expo

Sweet Water Greass BasketsetThis two-day Arts, Crafts and Food Expo is the highlight of the Annual Gullah Celebration.  Guests can enjoy Gullah cultural demonstrations such as sweet grass basket weaving, indigo dyeing and fishnet weaving, as well as traditional Gullah foods and entertainment. 
This event takes place at Historic Honey Horn Plantation, located on the North end of the Island.  Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for chldren.  There is a rain venue which is the Hilton Head Baccalaureate Elementary School on 30 School Road.
