The Island Recreation Association will host the Hilton Head Oyster Festival from 1 to 6 p.m. at Shelter Cove Community Park. The event features live music, a bounce house, carnival games and a silent auction. Tickets are $5 a day. Shrimp, chili, chowder, hamburgers and hot dogs will be sold separately.

Come enjoy authentic Cajun Food, music, entertainment, kids fun activities and more at the 2010 Coastal Cajun Festival. Held at the Shelter Cove Community Park, this event is sponsored by the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association and benefits the Island Rec Center on Hilton Head Island.

Pack a picnic and enjoy some jazz under the stars!!  This event is part of the Seafood, Jazz & Brew festival, and is being held at the Shelter Cove Community Park. Music is provided by the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra and the picnic can be one of your own or provided by one of our local catering outlets. Food and drink will also be available onsite. Please be sure to bring your own blanket or chair to sit on. Tickets are $10.00 per person and children are free.

Anything goes at this chili cookoff.  Meaning the chili can be made from just about any type of meat-from alligator to chicken to possum along with the more traditional fixins, you will find a bit of everything!  There are two types of judging for the competition.  First, the general public is allowed to vote for the best chili in both professional and amateur categories.  Also a group of honorable judges determine the best chili in a separate judging. This is a fun time for everyone, but be sure to bring your appetite!!

Advanced tickets are $10.00 can be purchased from any Kiwanis member or at the following locations: Kiwanis member, Burke’s Pharmacy, The Coastal Discovery Museum, The Internet Cafe in Coligny Plaza or any location of NBSC or Wachovia bank. Tickets are also available at the door for $12.00.

Golf with celebrities at this annual event held every Labor Day weekend on Hilton Head Island for the last 30 years. The list of celebrities changes from year to year, but the fun and activities do not. This event donates all proceeds to a number of LowCountry not-for-profits! Join us at Honey Horn Plantation for the 2010 Hawkfest – a Back to School celebration that everyone can enjoy!!! The day starts with a 5K Run and other activites include waterslides, watermelon & pie eating contests, a mechanical bull, and an ugly dag contest.  Admission is $10.oo person, and proceeds benefit our public schools.  Click here for more information.

Join in the fun and activities at the Shelter Cove Park every Tuesday!   There are activities for the whole family, including music, a kid zone and then the fireworks over Shelter Cove Marina.  Admission is free, and concessions will be sold.

Come cool down on three separate nights this summer!  The Island Recreation Center will be holding a Water Fun Night once a month for June, July & August.  Activities include Jumpin Jaxx Water rides and slides, carnival games and music!!  An entrance fee of $5.00 per child will be collected.
