Jazz in the Park

Pack a picnic and enjoy some jazz under the stars!!  This event is part of the Seafood, Jazz & Brew festival, and is being held at the Shelter Cove Community Park. Music is provided by the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra and the picnic can be one of your own or provided by one of our local catering outlets. Food and drink will also be available onsite. Please be sure to bring your own blanket or chair to sit on. Tickets are $10.00 per person and children are free.

Italian Heritage Festival on Hilton Head Island

Come learn about the Italian culture through, food, games and fun!!  The First Annual Italian Festival will be held in Shelter Cove Park and include activites such as a Pizza Throwing Contest, a ” sauce “ making competition, bocce ball courts, a stick ball hitting contest and live Italian music on the stage.   Of course there will be a number of booths selling Italian food delicacies such as Italian bread, cookies and zeppoles!!  Click here for more information about this event.

26th Annual Kiwanis Chili Cookoff

Anything goes at this chili cookoff.  Meaning the chili can be made from just about any type of meat-from alligator to chicken to possum along with the more traditional fixins, you will find a bit of everything!  There are two types of judging for the competition.  First, the general public is allowed to vote for the best chili in both professional and amateur categories.  Also a group of honorable judges determine the best chili in a separate judging. This is a fun time for everyone, but be sure to bring your appetite!!

Advanced tickets are $10.00 can be purchased from any Kiwanis member or at the following locations: Kiwanis member, Burke’s Pharmacy, The Coastal Discovery Museum, The Internet Cafe in Coligny Plaza or any location of NBSC or Wachovia bank. Tickets are also available at the door for $12.00.

2010 Coastal Cajun Festival

Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival

This year, the Festival will again feature its four glorious events including the Savannah/Hilton Head Speed Classic, October 29 – 31 on Savannah’s Hutchinson Island, the Car Club Jamboree, November 6, the Motoring Midway, November 6 & 7 and the Concours d’Elegance, the centerpiece of the Festival, November 7, all at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island. The Island Recreation Association will host the Hilton Head Oyster Festival from 1 to 6 p.m. at Shelter Cove Community Park. The event features live music, a bounce house, carnival games and a silent auction. Tickets are $5 a day. Shrimp, chili, chowder, hamburgers and hot dogs will be sold separately.

The Heritage – PGA Golf Tournament

The 9th Annual ART Market

The Art Market is a juried fine art and craft show held annually at the Historic Honey Horn Plantation. The Coastal Discovery Museum will jury artists in media that includes: clay, wood, fibers, metals, glass, jewelry, watercolors, oil, mixed media and photography. All work will be on display and for sale.

Each year artists from 13 states share the spotlight during this weekend-long event as they compete for prizes totaling $5,000. The public is invited to attend Saturday and Sunday, when the art will be on sale, and there will be demonstrations in glass, pine needle basketry, clay and much more. Food and beverages will also be served.

There is a $6.00 per car parking fee, but entrance to the event is free. Please click here for more information.

15th Annual Kiwanis Rib Burnoff

Come join the festivities as Honey Horn Plantation comes to life with the wonderful smells of slow cooked ribs and pulled pork. Each year, the Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head sponsors their Rib Burnoff – an event where local restaurants and amateur cooks compete for trophy’s and a year’s worth of bragging rights as the best.

Hundreds of people will turn out to enjoy the food, music and festivities. There are inflatable castles and slides in a children’s area, and the Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department will have booths and equipment on display.

Tickets can be purchsed for $15 (children under 12 are admitted free) from any Kiwanis member, or at The Coastal Discovery Museum.
