Holidays on Hilton Head Island

Between Halloween and Christmas is a holiday that doesn’t always get as much love as it deserves: Thanksgiving. This November event is the perfect time to reflect on everything you have in your life. Make your celebrations extra memorable this year by celebrating Turkey Day on a getaway with Beach Properties of Hilton Head. In addition to enjoying a delicious feast, there are plenty of other things to do during your Thanksgiving getaway, including checking out some of the annual events on Hilton Head Island.

What to Do on Your Thanksgiving Vacation

Hilton Head Island features numerous festivals and events year-round, including November. When planning your Thanksgiving visit, consider taking part in some of the popular annual happenings.

  • Start Thanksgiving off with the annual Turkey Trot 5K or Fun Walk. Taking place in front of Dockside on Skull Creek, things kick off at 8 a.m. This event frequently sells out, so we recommend registering online early.

  • Take in the colors of the season on a wagon ride through the Sea Pines Forest Preserve. Registration is required, and the price varies by age of the rider.

  • Another popular event at The Sea Pines Resort is the Thanksgiving scavenger hunt. Solve clues and riddles to find different locations in Sea Pines.

  • The day after Thanksgiving, make your way to Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina for Santa and Shopping Day. Enjoy specials and sales at harbor shops and restaurants before watching Jolly St. Nick make his way to the Neptune Statue aboard a firetruck.

  • For anyone looking to do a bit of holiday shopping, check out the Hilton Head Art League Gallery’s Gallery of Gifts. Running from mid-November through December, the market features gifts and on-of-a-kind decor, all handmade by local artists.

  • Kick off the holiday season with Harbour Town Lights. Starting the Friday after Thanksgiving, the event encourages visitors to go for a walk along the harbour and take in colorful scenes. While it runs through the end of December, the official tree lighting takes place the day after Thanksgiving.

  • See what deals you can find at local stores on Black Friday. This top shopping day is known for incredible sales, and some of your favorite Hilton Head Island shops and boutiques might just be joining the fun.
