Hilton Head Island is the premier destination for fishing and boating in South Carolina. The Intracoastal Waterway is an enormous grouping of passages and channels that stretch from Key West, Florida to Norfolk, Virginia. Due to the mild local climate and the fact that the waters within these channels are warmed by the Gulf Stream, boaters can enjoy access to exciting excursions no matter what time of year you visit.
Local outfitters pride themselves on providing options from dolphin-watching cruises to deep sea fishing that will please anyone in your group. For those with an independent streak, canoes, kayaks, etc. can be rented so you can explore the peaceful creeks and inlets of the island. Zip through the water on personal jet skis or flying in the air from a parasail. Professional instruction is also available for all of these activities. For those of you looking for a place to dock, Hilton Head has a number of marinas that welcome visitors. Many of them provide fuel, supplies, storage, telephones, cable T.V. hook ups, laundry facilities, fitness equipment, telephones, fresh water, and showers.
If you plan on bringing a boat, jet skis, etc. arrangements with a marina or boat storage must me made ahead of time. Gated plantations and other complexes will not allow boat or jet ski parking on the property.
