What to Expect at the RBC Heritage on Hilton Head Island

Opening Celebrations

The RBC Heritage on Hilton Head Island is a six-day event from Monday to Sunday. Before any of the golfing begins, the tournament kicks off with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. on the 18th green. A parade is also part of the opening celebrations. Beginning at Liberty Oak, which is located in the Harbour Town Yacht Basin, the parade continues straight to the 18th green where the opening ceremony is performed.

The Tournament

Of course, the tournament itself is the main attraction. Golfers are given the second day of the tournament to practice at their discretion. For anyone who is simply attending the event, there are other activities you can participate in. If you’re bringing the kids along, you can sign them up for the putting contest. In the evening, head to Heritage Lawn to enjoy an outdoor family movie. After the practice round has ended, the pros will face off during four rounds.

Other Event Activities

Because the RBC Heritage on Hilton Head Island is such a major event, drawing more than 100,000 spectators each year, there are plenty of other activities to participate in throughout the week. During the third round of golf on Saturday, a Plaid Nation Concert is hosted. Anyone can attend the live concert and all are encouraged to wear their plaid best as a testament to the plaid jacket tournament winners slip on while receiving their trophy. Check out specials and bars at restaurants during this week as well because many people will host parties in anticipation for this major event.
