Three of the Best Ways to Plan the Perfect Fall on Hilton Head Island
If you are planning a trip to Hilton Head in the fall, you will not be disappointed. Be warned it is hurricane season, but hurricanes rarely hit the island. September is your best bet if you want to enjoy the beach before the temperatures dip into 70-degree highs and 50-degree lows come October and November.
Enjoy a Romantic Hike on Hilton Head
Whether it is walking on the beach or a trail in a state park, Hilton Head has a myriad of options for you to try.
Jarvis Creek Park
At 53 acres, Jarvis Creek Park is the perfect park to spend an afternoon without getting lost. Jarvis Park is fantastic for all ages, with a 1.1-mile path around the lake. If you want to go fishing, the 11-acre lake is stocked with Largemouth Bass and Blue Gill. Just be sure to look out for the occasional turtle or alligator.
While the sand is not great for walking, there are several paved seaside trails to stroll on Burkes Beach. Burkes also boasts a high tide, temporary saltmarsh creek known as “The Folly,” which is a must-see for nature fans. If you're planning to bring along your pooch, be sure to check out the dog park while you're there.
The two-mile walk through the Audubon-Newhall Preserve is a short romp through the best that Hilton Head has to offer. Easy to access, the preserve’s trail surrounds a pond with benches and is filled with a wide variety of flora and fauna.
Take a Day Trip to Experience Your Surroundings
